Where it began

I supposed it was always from the beginning. I was always a creative person, I just wasn’t sure exactly what to do with it.

As a child I remember getting fabric from my moms sewing stash, wrapping it around me and parading in the front lawn of my small hometown as if I was on the red carpet. Cameras flashing all around, I’d pose, walk, pose. Then it went from red carpet to a photoshoot. I didn’t care what the boys across the street thought. Or even my own siblings.

When I was two years old I walked down the sidewalk, of that city we lived in at the time, wearing nothing but pearls, my mom’s high heels and a diaper.

So It Grows

I married into a family that loved and lived Halloween. It was nuts! But I enjoyed it. As I had kids of my own, they got into as well. Obviously they were learning from us. It grew with them. We had our front yard decked out in homemade tombstones and other assortments of decorations, including a few homemade props.

Our house became to be known in our neighborhood as the “Halloween House”. People would drive by all the time in October. And then it became a backyard walk through on the weekends.

In 2020 we were not sure if we would have the walk through because of restrictions. With some talking amongst a few of us we had a projection show made. And it was the hit!

We started a business, and then we started getting so many customers, that my ex needed my help. I turned into a full time worker of the business and stay at home mom. I loved it. My kids were older where they could mostly help themselves. When my kids and I weren’t out in nature hanging with our friends, I was often working on the business. My ex wanted to sell it, and I wanted to keep it. We started off transitioning bigger things to me. More things to me. But before it was all on me, we got a divorce and he decided he wanted to keep the business and left me in the dust.

Randomly I saw a network and tutorial event at Adobe. I decided to go to it. The networking event started first and everyone asked what Adobe tools you used. Every time I said After Effects people made a comment on either I must be smart, I know what I’m doing, they find it difficult, etc.

One woman I was speaking to when I said “After Effects”, her eyes widened in surprise, she stepped back, put her hands back as if stopping a crowd behind her and said “Woah! I don’t even touch that!” She ended up being the keynote speaker and the one giving the tutorial.
